Summer Tour Photo Collage

We’re still working on editing together the last episode or two of video footage from our cross Canada tour in August/September, but in the meantime we’ve got a video collage of still photos we took while we were on the road. Many of the photos included are of bands that we played shows and/or partied with including: Mapping The Escape, AM Glory, Brights, The Artist Life, Everyone Everywhere, The Junction, Zachary Lucky, Breaching Vista, and Immaculate Machine. The song in the video is “This was not my Best Day Ever” from our debut album “Working“.

Summer Tour Entry #26: You don't need a breakdown to throw down

Summer Tour Entry #26: You don’t need a breakdown to throw down

Wednesday, September 2nd/09, Black Pirate’s Pub, Thunder Bay ONT I’ve noticed, especially on this tour, that the bands and artists we listen to in the van mostly consist of bands we favor together and have shared moments and stages with, our friends, our inspiration, you could call it, a pleasant mix of pop, punk, indie, hardcore, rock, folk, and other things. When we leave the island and drive through BC, it’s always something that reminds us of home. Same thing through Alberta and through the prairies, a band that makes it feel like home, in the van and whomever’s floor we happen to sleep on. Ontario and Quebec, we are still learning. Every time we go we meet so many new people and bands, and I am thankful for that,

Summer Tour Entry #25: The Great Outdoors 2: the curse of John Candy

Summer Tour Entry #25: The Great Outdoors 2: the curse of John Candy

Monday, August 31st/Tuesday, September 1st/09, Northern Quebec and Ontario For most who know me, pretty well I guess, “The Great Outdoors” was and still is one of my favorite films of all time, that along with “Roxanne,” “Ghostbusters” and “Honey I shrunk the kids.” It’s got the brilliance of John Candy, god rest his soul, and Dan Akroyd, brothers, thrown into the wilderness with their families on vacation at the same time to the same place. Hilarity ensues with antics involving boating and water-skiing mishaps, a dirty old cabin in which the families share, a trip to a nearby town for some late-night fun and even a run-in with a violent storm and giant black bear. My favorite scene, in the steakhouse, John Candy orders the “Old 96’er” in an

Summer Tour Entry #24: Montreal: good clean fun and then some

Sunday, August 30th/09, Bar St.Laurent 2, Montreal QUE My French is terrible, atrocious, even. I am so glad that the people in this magical city are mostly bi-lingual, as I am certainly not. Well, maybe if it came to me ordering off a Russian menu or giving Russian directions or hell, even resolving a hostage situation, in Russian. It makes the language barrier a little thinner for us ignorant west-coast boys, but provides constant entertainment to the local population, I’m sure, our feeble attempts to play along, to understand. But hey, at least we try! We get the basics, for the most part, like how to ask “where’s the bathroom?” or “How are you?” or how to say “Please and thank you” or like “Yes.” That’s about it. Pitiful, I

Summer Tour Entry #23: Did anyone order a love burger? Well done!

Saturday, August 29th/09, Farewell House-Party, Ottawa ONT Like any awesome house-party, ones that are of epic proportions, usually held in celebration, of some obstacle overcome, achieving impossible goals, a birthday, or in this case, all the former tenants vacating the premises, they require lots of people informed of the event at least 48 hours in advance, acknowledging confirmation and ready to throw down, loud music, preferably live bands if attainable, a keg or two, if not, lots of beer in cans or bottles, in a trough, whatever you need to do. Some precautions you may want to take, no under-age kids to your knowledge, a safe room for the injured and highly intoxicated or to store the band’s gear and valuables, and most important of all, be aware of the

Summer Tour Entry #22: I spent my time in hell

Friday, August 27th/09, Call The Office, London ONT The concept of a “Green Room” or “Dressing Room” has been a continuing source of amusement for me. Alot of my friends and co-workers automatically assume that because I am in a band that is constantly touring and playing shows in different cities, that I and my band, all the bands, have a special room in the back of the club, behind the stage or wherever, where we feed, even gorge, our drug and alcohol problems with a bunch of groupies that have been fabricated into existence by the sheer will of the entertainment industry. This is not entirely true, I will clear this up. Quite often, there is a room, for us to hang out, warm-up, talk at a reasonable volume,
