Halifax Pop Explosion / Polar Bear Challenge
To celebrate the first day of the Halifax Pop Explosion our bearded bass player Dan Ball has volunteered to take part in the 2011 Coast To Coast Polar Bear Challenge! The challenge is to take a winter dip in both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans within a 24 hour period, so today at 5PM, Dan Ball will fully submerge himself in the Pacific ocean at Mile-Zero in Victoria, BC. Tomorrow morning Dan, along with the rest of Acres Of Lions, will embark on a cross Canada flight to Halifax, NS to attend the Halifax Pop Explosion, performing a showcase on Thursday, October 20th at The North Street Church. Although we are unfamiliar with both the climate and the terrain in Halifax, the hope is that Dan Ball will re-submerge his
Vancouver 125: New Acres Of Lions Song!
On of the challenges in the 2011 Peak Performance Project was to write a song about Vancouver to commemorate Vancouver’s 125th birthday. The songs were recorded in the wee hours of the morning in makeshift studios in the bunk houses at the Peak Performance Project Bootcamp in Princeton, BC. The bands had some great producers to work with: Shawn Cole, Garth Richardson, Warne Livesey, Dane Deviller and Winston Hauschild, and big thanks to all the students from Nimbus Recording for their help making these tracks come to life. Acres Of Lions song is titled “City By The Sea” and was produced by the legendary GGGarth Richardson. A big thanks to Garth, and also a big thanks to our friend Cody Beer who came to bootcamp with us and performed on

‘Reaction’ Video Credits
Help Acres Of Lions get the video credits right for their single ‘Reaction’. The video features over 100 people, and some of those people were fans or friends of friends that we’d like to properly credit. Here’s the list we’ve come up with so far: www.acresoflions.com/reaction If you know anyone who is in the video that we haven’t credited, please send an email to: info@acresoflions.com to let us know! Also if your name is listed, but we messed up the spelling or you’d prefer a different link or title please let us know about that too.
FREE unreleased Acres Of Lions demos!
Before Acres Of Lions went in the studio to record our latest album Collections we recorded a whole bunch of demo song ideas. Some of those ideas turned into the songs you hear on the record, but the rest of them are just collecting dust on the hard drive down at our rehearsal space in Victoria, BC. We listened through a bunch of the unreleased demo songs last night, and decided to share two of them with you on one condition: You take a couple minutes to help us win $100,500. To get the free songs: 1. Go to peakperformanceproject.com/vote 2. Vote for ACRES OF LIONS! 3. Take a screenshot 4. Email the screenshot to peakpp@acresoflions.com We will email you back with a download code/link for the free tracks. It’s

Peak Performance Project Showcase #4
I’ve been a Treelines fan for awhile now. Even before we met properly, before we played shows and hung out in Vancouver and Victoria, before were in the Peak Performance Project together. I’ve seen them play many times, and they even played at our most recent album release show at Sugar Nightclub in Victoria last month on September 10th, and I gotta say, thursday night at The Red Room in Vancouver, Peak Performance Project showcase #4, featuring all great bands, “The Matinee,” “Redgy Blackout,” “Behind Sapphire,” all bands I love to death and would play a show with any day, “Treelines” shone so bright, I couldn’t even believe it. From the very first song of the set, which I am tentatively calling “The Cougar,” simply from not knowing the title
Peak Performance Project Showcase #2
Thursday, September 15th, 2011 The Peak Performance Project pushes on with the weekly showcases at The Red Room on Richards in Vancouver, and now it has come to ours, featuring a few great bands in which we share this endeavor with, “Current Swell,” “Avairis,” and “Fields of Green.” This was the second showcase in the concert series and we couldn’t have been more excited. A program such as this only exists because of the kind hearts and brilliant minds of people who believe in the music and are willing to teach us the way, to support us crazy bands into our futures. We really can’t thank The Peak, Jim Pattison, and MusicBC enough for all they have done for us, as well as all of the other Peak Performers. Here’s
BLOG-landia
What a perfect night! This year, our 4th year in a row playing the Rifflandia Festival, a festival that has grown tremendously with the creativity, time and effort put into it, we played a show to an amazing crowd on September 24th, a Saturday night in Victoria at The Events Center, a MusicBC showcase with heartthrobs “The Belle Game,” “Beekeeper” and “Young Liars.” It was finally Autumn, it was exciting, the room was full of our friends and fans, the sound was excellent, Jeff had strep-throat, Dan had been recently shaved, all good things. A wonderful night, followed by two nights of great acts, Redbird, Library Voices, Braids, Vince Vaccaro, Jets Overhead, Broken Social Scene to name a few, and really, just some solid times with people we love.
