Studio Log: Day 6-8
Studio update from Dan…Recording an album is a wonderful time. All of us have been having a good old time with Adam Sutherland. Our old friend Al Hannigan came down to set up our guitars and basses. He said that Dan’s bass was the grossest, dirtiest instrument he had ever seen. Dan did bass on days 6, 7 and 8. On the second day we had the opportunity to play V.I.C. fest. Short day in the studio and we played to a wonderful crowd in our own back yard. We’re all really excited for everyone to hear the new songs and we’re starting to work them into the set slowly. It’s going to be a great summer this year. DAN BALL >> read more

Studio Log: Day 3 – Oh, Flammadiddle!
Another long day at Infinity Studios, with Adam Sutherland and his craft, another long day of percussion, inventing new terms for everything, debauchery, coffee sweats and an unfortunate hockey game in the middle, another bright and lovely day spent inside. Lewis drummed and we joked the whole time about specific phrases that never get played by drummers anymore (ie. the 90’s hip-hop shuffle, the 8-beat random-sounding drum-roll), all the different ways you can write and imitate drums sounds with your mouth and how cymbal shots sound absolutely terrifying without a kick-drum under them. We were also dressed in our finest summer apparel, cut-off shorts and flip-flops, and discussed how as soon as we have to spend 10 hour shifts indoors, in a loud, hot and sweaty room, the weather blesses >> read more

Studio Log: Day 2 – Drums
Day two at Infinity Studios and we’re already starting to act like 8 year old kids the first time they learned a curse word. Getting into the studio now requires you to utter obnoxious passwords that would make your grandmother blush. Song lyrics are in the process of being rewritten to the tune of Rodney Dangerfield stand up act. Basically we’re really starting to “bond” with Adam again. Not a whole lot of excitement to report in this edition, other than we successfully laid down drum tracks on four more songs. That brings the song count up to seven, leaving three more songs for Lewis to pound out tomorrow. We’ve been recording lots of video of the whole process, so once we’re done in the studio stay tuned to our >> read more
