Summer Mini-Tour Entry #3
Thursday, July 2nd/09, Renfrew Community Center, Calgary AB If you haven’t read any updates on our website, myspace, facebook, twitter, etc, there may be a chance that you haven’t heard that our friend and most trusted colleague, Cody Beer, has joined us on this tour, filling in for our beloved drummer, Lewis Carter. Cody is a Taurus, loves veggie burgers and has many awesome tatoos you will no doubt ask him the meaning to in the event that you meet him and find that he is quite the catch. Cody is also in a new up and coming band from Vancouver called “The Transition.” We love him and couldn’t do this without him. We drove to Calgary today, after crashing a few hours in Tyson’s parents’ abandoned condo and hitting
Summer Mini-Tour, Entry #2 (Happy Canada Day!)
Wednesday, July 1st/09, Doc Willoughby’s, Kelowna BC And what a grand Canada Day it was! Kelowna BC has always been known for it’s massive and forgive me, “off the hook” Canada Day celebrations. We left Vancouver early so we could hit the beach in Kelowna, we didn’t, but we still joined in on the fun. It was crazy and the day was the nicest it could have been. We walked around for hours in the sun, listening to funk bands and what I thought was a Danko Jones cover band, got some rub-on tats, had a few beverages… someone even shouted at us from their vehicle, well to Dan, that he had a part of the female reproductive system on his face, how awesome! I have thought that for years!
Summer Mini-Tour, Entry #1
Tuesday, June 30th/09. The Media Club, Vancouver BC The days are just packed! For the last few years, I have felt the slightest bit odd celebrating the summer season and I think I know why. Now, it could just be me, but over the years, it seems that everyone, including myself, does it to an extreme when it rolls around, or as we at Acres of Lions Inc. call it, the “Vitamin D high.” Even before it is here, we scurry around and try to fill each summer day and night with as many activities as possible. It’s like a ritual and it is prepared for carefully, all our future hopes and good times are placed in the 3 month period of June, July and August, signifying vacation, around these
Fill-In Drummer Announced
A few friends have been asking us why we’re jamming with a new drummer, so to dispel any rumors that Lewis is leaving the band – Lewis is simply enrolled in some college courses over the summer that makes it hard for him to tour, so we’ve asked our good friend Cody Beer to fill in for him on our upcoming BC/Alberta mini-tour. Cody currently plays drums in the Vancouver band The Transition and has been a friend of ours since the days of his old band, Remember August. Here’s a couple pictures to get you familiar… It’s gonna be fun to share the stage with Cody for a few shows. Lewis will be back in action for our free show on July 31st at the Charles Dickens Pub in
‘Closer’ Music Video
The brand new music video for the first single, ‘Closer’, from our debut album is now up on the web (YouTube | Vimeo). The entire video is stop-motion – compiled from still photographs taken on a digital slr camera. Special thanks to the production team of Brian Dutkewich and Angela Kendall at Transmission2 for their hard work putting the video together for us on a shoestring budget! The video will also be serviced to MuchMusic in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for that.
Warped Tour Contest
We’ve entered ourselves in an Ernie Ball competition to play at the Calgary Warped tour on August 15th and we need your help! Bands are going to be selected based in part on the number of votes they receive, so it would be awesome if you could help us out by voting! You can vote for us once a day, and the more votes we get the better our chances are of playing the Warped Tour!

Tyson helps Rockers win the Juno CUP!
For the first time since its inception, the Rockers defeated the ex-NHLers in the Juno CUP. The game, which took place last Friday at Thunderbird Stadium in Vancouver, featured an assortment of Canadian music icons (Jim Cuddy – Blue Rodeo, Tyler Stewart – Barenaked Ladies, etc) taking on a crew of former NHL stars (Russ Courtnall, Lanny McDonald, etc). After being one of the last musicians selected to perform in the Juno CUP, Tyson, with the help of line mates Cam Melnyk and Jesse Wainwright from State Of Shock managed to score once in regulation and a second time in the overtime shootout to keep the Rockers hopes of victory alive. Check out some fan footage of the final minutes of the game…
