Peak Performance Project, Day 1: “Bootcamp”
Here we are again, friends. The same place at the same time we were last year, into the wild (with the internet) to build our community of musicians and music industry professionals. This year, there are quite a few familiar faces we saw at last years’ camp, including our talented friends who share our triumphant title of “Second Round Artists,” @41st and Home and @Behind Sapphire, as well as new participants, friends we’ve either played shows with amidst our travels in the past or people we have had the pleasure of having them lavish us with their knowledge on a previous occasion. The brand new music video for Acres Of Lions new single “Reaction” was posted today on YouTube. The video was shot entirely by the band for almost zero budget. The only expenses were poster boards, sharpies, and cashing in on the friendships we’ve made over the past 4 years of being a band. Special thanks to all our friends who took part in this video. Halifax Pop Explosion!
This just in…Acres Of Lions will be performing at the Halifax Pop Explosion festival in Halifax, NS this October! This will be the band’s first time visiting the maritimes, and we couldn’t be more excited. Sum 41 show cancelled due to injury
Sum 41 has cancelled the rest of their Canadian tour dates due to complications with an injury that frontman Deryck Whibley suffered during a fight in a Japanese bar last year. From the Sum 41 website: “The injury that Deryck suffered last year after being assaulted at a bar in Japan has never fully healed and our demanding tour schedule has taken its toll on his body,” their statement reads. “We hate cancelling shows, but Deryck’s well being is our top priority and the best thing right now is to give him time to heal. The final lineup for the fourth year of Victoria’s annual Rifflandia Festival was announced this afternoon and we’re pleased to report that Acres Of Lions will be playing along side high profile acts such as: City and Colour, Broken Social Scene, Cold Ward Kids, Mother Mother, Hollerado, and many more. The new Acres Of Lions single “Reaction” is now available for digital purchase via iTunes and other major online retailers. It can also be previewed for free on the Acres Of Lions Facebook page. The song was recorded/produced by Adam Sutherland at Infinity Studios in Victoria, and Mixed by Mike Fraser at the Warehouse in Vancouver.
