Wednesday, August 26th/09, Downtown Toronto ONT

Nothing interesting happened today.
Well, that’s not entirely true, we bothered alot of people. I was pretty overwhelmed by the amount of people in the downtown Toronto area, Eaton Center, the mass collection of bodies, the foot and vehicle traffic, summer still in full effect, competing with special events, restaurants and cafes, clothing sales, all out flyering all corners, like really. It was crazy and it tired me out, made me want to screw the fliers, find a patio somewhere in the sun and have a beverage (as if I could afford it) chill and watch everyone, a favorite activity, shopping and talking, scampering, relentless, directionless, unproductive motion, we all do it. We must have walked around for 3 or 4 hours, handing out fliers for tomorrow night’s show at Rancho Relaxo, hit all the indie record and clothing shops, ended up on Queens street at Muchmusic, where “Much on Demand” was totally happening. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson also made an appearance. Our hearts raced, but only slightly, they were not the little tykes they once were, wholesome and innocent, the product envisioned by millions in that San Fransisco home with Bob Saget, John Stamos, Dave Coulier, the dream team. We talked about Full House for a bit, how truly amazing it is, feeling good and accomplished about getting the word out about the show, actually maintaining an appopriate work schedule during our days off. Dan somehow managed to wander off, which he does quite often, in front of a Muchmusic cameraman and actually plugged the show during the filming, got a bunch of people’s attention. Whether or not it was ever aired, is another story. We were beat and before heading home (or whatever) for the day, Dan and Lewis decided on getting some shifty msg-covered BBQ. Lewis got it down, with his iron stomach, Dan, on the other hand, soiled himself.
We stayed up all night in my sister’s house, having a BBQ and then a trip to the LCBO, playing X-Box, watching “Dexter” and “It’s always sunny in Philadelphia,” laughing at stupid things that aren’t particularly funny, discussing music and other things involved with the trade. We always stayed up and out way too late for our own good, not getting enough sleep, still live by that old standard of trying to make as many friends and fit as much as possible in a single day, even when we should be resting, the kind of thing we used to do when we were younger. Not much has changed, except that maybe we dress a little better, have ridiculous facial hair, own a van between the 4 of us and travel a little more, and maybe we’re a little smarter in our choices, to hang out in shitty bars and bet on pool, invent new slang to post on urban dictionary, to associate with no-good-knicks just like us. We acknowledge the consequences of our ridiculous actions, and still go through with them. We still drink too much, eat too much fast food, against our better judgment, still try to find the fun parts in people and the most boring of situations, try to get a rise out of people, shout obscene yet endearing statements like “hey you gurl, I like the way you operate!” and other exploitives deleted, still listen to old punk, emo and bad pop music and love it. I think it’s important, to have touchstones, almost as important as Lewis ingesting his daily regiment of green vegetables and Dan being able to have access to clean underwear and socks every night. I know this will not happen any time soon, but one can hope.
