I answer the door in my underwear, barely able to speak. She seems frightened. I would be too. It seems the weather has been getting warmer and more humid as we’ve been traveling. JobFest 2012 Rock Your Future
Acres Of Lions is pleased to announce that the band will be traveling around British Columbia for the next three months as part of a provincial government initiative called “JobFest” aimed at getting youth excited about career opportunities in our beautiful province. Celebrate all of the amazing career opportunities for young people in B.C. Created through the provincial Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation, the goal of JobFest is to engage with and excite youth while delivering labour market information and showcasing six career exploration tools developed by the ministry. The tour will make 50 stops in northern and southern B.C. from spring to fall 2012. Visitors will be introduced to career options through face-to-face discussions with event presenters, guest speakers, the career tools, interactive games, and other career-related information.

Friday, March 16, Moosejaw We leave Calgary early in the morning. It’s shame too because it seems the nice weather has finally caught up to us, and we have to miss Tubby Dog, AGAIN. We take our time driving and the Star Wars Marathon continues in the back seat with Anthony and I, well into “A New Hope.” “Darth Vader is a pussy” and “Princess Leia’s a babe” and other such things following brain-dead nerdy chuckles are uttered from only us and we get pestered looks from the rest of the boys. Batman Jones.” – Handsome Anthony in response to the question, “if you could pick a white-person name from a list, what would it be?” Wednesday, March 14, Edmonton On the tour so far, there have been two movie marathons. Anthony began with Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace. Shameful, yes, but he explains, “I had to watch it, or it wouldn’t be a marathon, and the pod-racer scene is actually pretty good.” I agree, and throughout the trip he has been silently watching in the back seat of the van, making good time, in kilometres and film cells created by George Lucas’ sweat and tears probably. We challenge the Salmo-Creston Highway 3 mountain pass today, in all it’s frozen, winter glory. This time of year it is not a road you want to dare, but you do it anyway. This is a rock and roll tour, not a road trip, remember? Before we begin the trek to Calgary, we head into Nelson to pick up Dan and Handsome Anthony at The Balls (Yup, that’s right) The weather is fine as can be, except for every internet database telling us the pass is supposed to be closed. Before we are on our way to Kelowna, we say goodbye to Kiana, who I’m sure, at this point, realizes how ridiculous and strange, and gross, we are as a band, and as people, and is relieved to know she no longer has to share our clearly awesome, yet disgusting van with us.
