Dan Ball: ” My favorite thing to do is watch old Simpsons episodes and realize that 80% of your day to day vocabulary is from that show.”

Jeff: “Extra! Extra! Todd smells!”

Dan Ball: “Are your sources reliable?”

Hey there friends!

We just wanted to give you all a shout and let you know that the Jobfest 2012 tour has begun!

Yes, our adventure throughout Northern British Columbia for the next 3 months has gotten off to a wet and wonderful start, at the crack of dawn, which is something new that we in Acres of Lions are still coping with, but remaining stoked on. Today we were in Abbotsford, on-site at the Abbotsford Trade and Exhibition (TRADEX) Centre for the BC Skills Competition, where all the local high schools have let out for the day to let their students participate in a day full of amazing workshops and demonstrations in every trade imaginable, and of course, live performances by us throughout the day on the main stage, “rock-band” slaying, career building games and insane prize giveaways in the overwhelmingly massive Jobfest 2012 amp-tents.

We spent a good portion of the day talking with the students about music and becoming fast friends with our fantastic new crew of Jobfest “road-warriors,” who are some of the most hard-working and positive people we could have met. Dan and I spent quite a bit of time watching the culinary arts competitions, the marvelous creations and intricacies of the young Patisserie chefs-in-training. Tyson spent his afternoon with his kin in the Robotics department (I don’t want to say nerds, but…), watching small robots battle and disassemble each other. And as for Cody, well, it’s a toss-up between brick mason or firefighter, something that makes him sweat, let’s say. He hasn’t decided yet. We are hoping one day we will grow up and find the career that is right for us. Until then, we slap on a temporary tattoo that reads musician, remain stoked and hit the road for 3 months of doing what we love the most, being ridiculous and playing music.

Mighty fine shindig! See you in Prince Rupert, friends!
